Union Investment thanks you for visiting our website and for your interest in our company and its products and services.

We take the protection of your data very seriously as part of our commitment to quality and customer focus, particularly with regard to protecting your personal rights. We will handle any personal data you provide with the level of care that is customary in the banking sector and in accordance with German data protection law.

We set out below which of your personal data we record and the purposes for which we use it.

This privacy policy applies to all of the websites operated by German companies within the Union Investment Group. Websites belonging to Union Investment Group companies may contain links to external companies. Our privacy policy does not cover these companies.

What is personal data?

Personal data as defined under the German Data Protection Act (BDSG) is information about the personal or material circumstances of a specific or specifiable natural person. In addition to name, address, date of birth, occupation and bank details, this may include particularly sensitive data, such as income or creditworthiness. All such data is subject to special protection under the BDSG, with which we comply by way of technical and organisational procedures.

Collection of personal data

We do not require any data from you if you are entering the public section of our website. In accordance with the BDSG, you are guaranteed complete anonymity when navigating this section. For example, you can use our space search function anonymously and leave our website at any time. We save the details of each instance of access in a log file. The following data is collected by us and stored until it is automatically deleted: the IP address of the computer used, the date and time of access, the pages visited and the website from which you visited us. This data is collected and processed for the following purposes: to guarantee the long-term security and stability of our system, to optimise our Internet services and to create and evaluate internal statistics. We do not generate or process any personal surfing profiles.

Please note that if you make use of one of our many different services, e.g. the intranet, you will leave the public section of our website and enter the secure area of a closed user group. Use of this area requires your express voluntary consent to the collection, use and processing of your personal data, insofar as this serves the purpose of your contractual or trust-based relationship. The data entered will be transmitted from your PC in encrypted form in accordance with the latest technical standard (TLS) in order to protect it from misuse by third parties.

Within the closed area, we use cookies to enable selected functions. Cookies are small text files created by your web browser following a web server request. Cookies offer two main advantages: personalisation of the visitor’s experience and dialogue support. We do not use web bugs (a non-controllable type of cookie). Cookies are only used on this website for dialogue support. For certain dialogues, it is essential to use cookies for effective processing as they allow the user to browse back and forth during the active session. These cookies are deleted automatically when you leave the website. The use of cookies for dialogue support is therefore in your interests. Cookies do not pose a risk to your computer. You can configure your browser to accept our cookies without any concerns. Cookies are also used to customise your browsing experience during the session. At the end of the session, all the cookies are deactivated, i.e. they can no longer be read. You can nevertheless make full use of all of our content without the need for cookie functionality. In this case, however, information you have already provided cannot be stored for future requests and will therefore need to be re-entered. You can prevent the installation of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings in your browser. However, please note that this may restrict your ability to make full use of all the functions of the website.

The program is installed on our internal hosting package. That means, for example, that transmission of data to other countries or to a third party is avoided because our server is located in Germany.

Facebook social plugins

Our website uses social plugins (“plugins”) provided by the social networking site facebook.com, operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (“Facebook”). The plugins are identified by a Facebook logo or the words “Facebook social plugin”.
When you visit one of our web pages containing a social plugin, your browser establishes a direct connection to the Facebook servers. Facebook transmits the plugin’s content directly to your browser, which embeds it into the web page, thereby informing Facebook that you have accessed the respective page of our website. The Internet address of the web page visited (including your IP address) is transmitted to a Facebook server in the US and stored there. As a rule, Facebook cannot identify you personally because a dynamic address is usually assigned to you by your ISP when you surf the Internet. According to information published by Facebook, the relevant data is not processed further or disclosed to third parties, and is anonymised after a period of three months so it cannot be used to identify you personally. This does not apply if you are logged in to Facebook at the same time as visiting our website because in this case Facebook is able to associate your visit with your Facebook account.

If you interact with the plugins – for example, by clicking “Like” or making a comment – your browser transmits the corresponding information directly to Facebook, where it is stored.
Please refer to Facebook's data policy for more information on the purpose and extent of data collection by Facebook, for details of how your data is processed and used, and for your related rights and settings options to protect your privacy.
If you are a member of Facebook and do not wish Facebook to collect data about your visit to our website, please log out of Facebook before visiting our website.

Security of personal data

The personal data that you, as a member of the closed user group, share with us through your consent to its collection, processing and use is transmitted in encrypted form via the Internet to our computer system, where it is stored and secured (exception: data transmission by e-mail). The security procedure used is in line with state-of-the-art technology. We require all the relevant personnel within our organisation to protect personal data in accordance with section 5 of the BDSG (German Data Protection Act) and access to data is protected by a special authorisation procedure. Union Investment has put technical and organisational security measures in place to protect the data from accidental or deliberate manipulation, loss, deletion, or unauthorised access. We are continuously improving our security measures as technology develops.
