Chilehaus symbolises Hamburg’s economic recovery after World War I and became one of the city’s flagship buildings, along with St Michael’s Church. This magnificent property has been included on Germany's Tentative List for UNESCO World Heritage Site status.

VIP guest visits Chilehaus

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier took the opportunity today to visit Chilehaus prior to the awarding of the UNESCO World Heritage certificate to the First Mayor of Hamburg, Olaf Scholz. 

Fund property granted World Heritage status

Since Sunday, the Chilehaus building in Hamburg has been officially recognised as a site of special historic interest. Together with the Kontorhaus district and Speicherstadt warehouse district, the iconic office building has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site – the first of its kind in Hamburg.
